DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Safety Specialist supports the organization's safety programs by ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. This role partners with supervisors and employees to identify hazards, reduce risk, investigate incidents, and promote Janicki’s safety culture.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct routine safety inspections and workplace audits.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations.
- Deliver employee safety training.
- Administer regulatory programs including Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Respiratory Protection.
- Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments.
- Monitor contractor safety performance.
- Track corrective actions until completion.
- Maintain OSHA logs and required safety records.
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
- Promote employee engagement through safety committees, take 5’s and observations.
- Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- HS diploma or GED required
- 2+ years’ experience in workplace safety and compliance
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in the English language
- Possesses strong analytical abilities and is able to manage data effectively
- Has strong decision-making skills
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written forms with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
- Possesses comprehensive PC skills, including MS Office (Excel/Access/Word/PowerPoint).
- Able to learn and use new systems.
- Ability to work off/split shifts as required
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree or 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- 5+ years in manufacturing, industrial, or construction safety.
- Experience with ISO standards.
DETAILED WAGE INFORMATION
- Wage range for this role is between $20 - $40 per hour, plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
