Senior Protection & Control Engineer – High Voltage Substations (230kV/525kV)
15+ years of Protection & Control (P&C) engineering experience required. Seeking a Senior P&C Engineer with high-voltage substation, transmission, or switchyard experience to serve as a technical expert on complex electrical infrastructure projects.
This role is ideal for an experienced Protection Engineer, Relay Engineer, or Substation Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, leading designs, and providing engineering expertise on major power projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead P&C design for high-voltage switchyards and transmission projects
- Develop and review protection and control design packages
- Design and evaluate protective relay schemes and electrical systems
- Perform electrical calculations and engineering verifications
- Review vendor engineering packages and technical drawings
- Develop equipment specifications and support procurement activities
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and testing
- Support transformer replacements and electrical system upgrades
- Resolve complex engineering issues and provide technical guidance
- Ensure compliance with IEEE, NERC, NESC, NRC, and utility standards
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 15+ years of Protection & Control engineering experience
- Experience with high-voltage substations, switchyards, or transmission systems
- Strong knowledge of protective relaying and P&C design
- Ability to independently lead complex engineering projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- 230kV, 345kV, 500kV, or 525kV experience
- Utility, EPC, or nuclear industry experience
- Transformer replacement project experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience reviewing vendor engineering deliverables
