Duties
- Assist with medical collection procedures such as blood draws, urine samples, and other diagnostic tests
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques for examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring patient status and assisting with emergency procedures
- Perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning kennels, grooming, and maintaining a clean clinic environment
- Prepare animals for surgery using aseptic techniques and assist during surgical procedures under supervision
- Manage veterinary software systems for record keeping, appointment scheduling, and inventory management
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up needs
Requirements
- Previous kennel or animal handling experience preferred;
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, veterinary terminology, and medical-surgical procedures
- Experience with laboratory work and veterinary critical care is highly desirable
- Ability to learn animal catheterization and apply aseptic techniques accurately
- Strong customer service skills to communicate clearly with pet owners and team members
- Understanding of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations, USDA regulations, and veterinary clinic protocols
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques across various species including companion animals and equines
- Prior veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with veterinary software systems
