Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Private Caregiver with behavioral health experience and certification to provide personalized, high-quality care in a home or community setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of an individual requiring specialized support, whom has developmental disabilities, autism, or other behavioral health needs. The ideal candidate will bring energy, empathy, and a proactive approach to caregiving, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity for the individual served. This paid position emphasizes professional growth and the chance to work closely with the client to promote independence and well-being. Client is a large male and is 2:1 24/7. Behavior issues will occur and we need to ensure that the applicant has previous experience with behavioral health clients. Experience with behavioral health in the realm of geriatric care would not be the same. Previous CPI, safety care, or WELLE training is required to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive personal care including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and observe behavioral changes to ensure safety and well-being
- Administer medications accurately following care plans while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking
- Implement and update individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for clients with behavioral health challenges
- Maintain detailed documentation of client observations, medication administration, and care activities in accordance with healthcare standards
Experience
- Prior experience working in private homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is required
- Proven background in caring for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or specialized behavioral health certifications are advantageous
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques, medication management, and safety procedures in the community
- Strong understanding of patient monitoring protocols and ability to respond effectively during behavioral events
- Knowledge of social work principles related to client advocacy and support is preferred
- You must have open availability including weekends and agreeable to work more than one shift as scheduled. Example 6a-2p one day and 2p-10p on another
