Airia Comprehensive Dermatology is a boutique dermatology practice in Chicago focused on high-quality medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic care. We are a small, patient-centered team with high standards for clinical care, communication, organization, and follow-through.
We are hiring a dermatology Medical Assistant & Clinical Support Manager who is warm, intelligent, highly organized, and eager to learn. This role is ideal for someone interested in dermatology, medical school, NP/PA school, nursing, or another clinical career where a solid medical foundation is critical. We are interested in candiates looking for a meaningful hands-on experience in a fast-paced, physician-led practice.
This is not a passive support role. The right candidate will be expected to take ownership, anticipate needs, communicate clearly, and help maintain an excellent patient experience from check-in through follow-up.
What You’ll Do
Patient Care and Clinical Support
- Greet and room patients
- Take accurate histories and document visits in the EHR
- Take clear clinical photographs for documentation
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist the physician during medical, surgical, and cosmetic visits
- Scribe during patient encounters
- Review care plans and provide patient education materials
- Assist with medication instructions, prescriptions, and refills
- Provide follow-up communication to patients as directed
- Remove sutures, change dressings, and assist with wound care
- Communicate pathology results, when directed
Procedures and Advanced Training
After onboarding and demonstrated competency, the Medical Assistant may be trained to assist with or perform selected medical and cosmetic procedures under physician supervision. This may include additional training in dermatology-specific workflows, procedural preparation, laser & cosmetic support, and patient counseling.
Administrative and Practice Support
All team members at Airia are cross-trained. In addition to clinical duties, this role includes supporting the administrative side of the practice, including:
- Responding to patient messages and phone calls
- Confirming forms and consents are complete
- Uploading records and documents into the EHR
- Managing room inventory and communicating supply needs
- Supporting prescription prior authorizations
- Maintaining clean, organized, and compliant clinical spaces
- Following HIPAA, OSHA, and practice safety protocols
- Communicating results or documentation to outside clinicians when appropriate
Training and Onboarding
To support the best fit, selected candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a clinic shadow day, prior to accepting a job offer.
The new Medical Assistant will receive extended onboarding with hands-on training and mentoring. The goal is for the new hire to progress toward independent work within approximately 1 to 2 months, depending on prior experience, learning curve, attention to detail, and demonstrated competency.
The DermTech Medical Assistant Certification course and other practice-specific training will be provided during onboarding.

Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to start as soon as possible
- Pre-med, pre-PA/NP, nursing, or other healthcare-track background preferred
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on patient care experience preferred
- Prior dermatology experience is helpful, but not required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to commute reliably to the our downtown Chicago office daily
Work Location
This is an in-person role at Airia Comprehensive Dermatology in the Fulton Market neighborhood of Chicago. Over time, there is the possibility to earn flexible work-from-home opportunities.
