Position Overview:
The Washington Township School District is seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and highly qualified Special Education Teacher to lead our Emotional Regulation Impairment (ERI) program at Port Colden School. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of behavior intervention strategies, trauma-informed practices, and differentiated instruction. You will be responsible for creating a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that fosters both academic growth and emotional resilience for students facing regulation challenges.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement individualized academic and behavioral plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.

Utilize proactive de-escalation techniques and positive behavior supports to foster a therapeutic learning environment.

Collaborate closely with the child study team, counselors, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure holistic student support.

Track, analyze, and report data regarding student academic and behavioral progress.
Qualifications/Requirements:

Valid New Jersey Instructional Certification required.

NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSTD) or Teacher of the Handicapped certification required (Standard, CEAS, or CE).

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral needs is highly preferred.
