Responsibilities
- Efficiently wash, sanitize, and dry dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment following food safety sanitizing procedures.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as needed to support the kitchen team.
- Bypass dirty dishes from the dining area to the dishwashing station promptly to maintain a smooth workflow.
- Operate commercial dishwashing machines and other kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, including floors, sinks, and storage spaces, adhering to sanitation standards.
- Support with bussing tables and clearing plates during busy service times to ensure a clean dining environment.
- Handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting of large pots or crates of supplies while following proper manual handling techniques.
Skills
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety practices to prevent contamination.
- Experience with cleaning protocols, sanitation standards, and restaurant health regulations.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of kitchen health and safety standards to maintain a safe work environment.
- Basic knife skills for assisting with light food prep or handling ingredients when necessary.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and performing manual handling tasks confidently.
- Prior food service or restaurant experience is preferred but not required; a positive attitude and eagerness to learn are essential.
