Experienced Dog Groomer – Full-Time or Part-Time
Preppy Pet West Houston is seeking a talented, dependable, and compassionate Dog Groomer to join our growing pet care team. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about animals, takes pride in their work, and enjoys helping pets look and feel their best.
Multiple years of professional dog-grooming experience are preferred. We offer flexible scheduling, and this position may be part-time or full-time depending on availability and business needs.
This is a commission-based position. The commission percentage will be determined based on the groomer’s experience, skill level, availability, and demonstrated abilities.
Commission is separate from tips. Groomers receive 100% of the tips assigned to them.
Responsibilities
- Perform full-service dog grooming, including bathing, brushing, blow-drying, haircuts, trimming, de-shedding, and breed-specific styling
- Provide nail trims, ear cleaning, sanitary trims, teeth brushing, and other requested grooming services
- Consult with pet owners to understand their grooming preferences and desired haircut
- Safely and compassionately handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments
- Identify and communicate visible skin, coat, ear, nail, or health concerns to management and pet owners
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary grooming area
- Clean and disinfect grooming tools, equipment, tables, tubs, and workspaces
- Keep accurate notes regarding grooming instructions, pet behavior, and completed services
- Provide friendly and professional customer service during pet check-in and check-out
- Work efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and animal care
- Follow all company policies and pet-safety procedures
- Assist team members with safe pet handling when needed
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous professional dog-grooming experience is strongly preferred
- Multiple years of professional grooming experience are preferred
- Ability to complete full haircuts and grooming services independently
- Knowledge of breed-specific cuts, coat types, grooming tools, and proper grooming techniques
- Strong animal-handling skills and the ability to remain calm and patient with nervous or difficult pets
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced pet-care environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift or assist dogs when necessary
- Grooming certification is a plus but is not required with sufficient hands-on experience
- Must maintain a professional and positive attitude
- Must be committed to treating every pet with patience, kindness, and respect
- Must provide and maintain their own professional grooming tools and equipment
Applicants should have the tools necessary to perform professional grooming services, including clippers, blades, shears, combs, brushes, and any other personal equipment needed to complete their work safely and effectively.
Interview and Test Groom
Qualified applicants will first participate in an interview. Candidates who move forward in the hiring process will be asked to complete a practical test groom so we can evaluate grooming technique, pet handling, safety, time management, and finishing quality.
Additional information regarding the test groom will be provided after the initial interview.

Compensation
