e are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our growing wound care team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance claims, prior authorizations, and revenue cycle management. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate claim submission, timely payment posting, denial resolution, and maintaining compliance with payer guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Submit electronic and paper claims accurately and timely.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Obtain and track prior authorizations when required.
- Review medical documentation for billing accuracy and coding compliance.
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims with insurance companies.
- Appeal denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
- Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate patient balances.
- Communicate with providers, clinical staff, and patients regarding billing questions.
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor aging reports and work accounts receivable to maximize reimbursement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience (wound care, surgical, or specialty clinic experience preferred).
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing.
- Familiarity with prior authorizations, claim appeals, and denial management.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) and medical billing software.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical billing/coding certification is a plus.
