Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Drive county routes, managing short-haul deliveries with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload various types of bulk landscape materials.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, ensuring on-time deliveries while adjusting for traffic or weather conditions.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo manifests, inspection reports, and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or issues encountered on the route.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and 2 years+ experience.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving.
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and manual handling procedures.
- Experience handling logistics cargo such as freight, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck loading/unloading.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning and navigation.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and compliance at all times.
