Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Test Technician to join our dynamic engineering team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive testing of electrical systems, PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assemblies, and electro-mechanical components using multimeters, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Perform root cause analysis on electrical failures or malfunctions to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions.
- Read and interpret schematics, electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems by diagnosing electrical faults within complex systems involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, relays, and wiring harnesses.
- Assist in the assembly of prototypes or production units utilizing surface mount technology (SMT), hand tools, soldering techniques, and surface-mount component placement.
- Support project scheduling by coordinating testing activities with engineering teams to meet development milestones.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, results, and repairs while ensuring compliance with industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code).
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to understand mechanical-electrical integration issues and contribute to design improvements.
- Participate in equipment troubleshooting during maintenance or repair operations to minimize downtime and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
- Develop scripts in Python or other scripting languages for automation of testing procedures or data collection when applicable.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in electrical diagnostics, equipment troubleshooting, and maintenance within manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems including schematics reading, wiring diagrams, and blueprint interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with soldering techniques, surface mount technology (SMT), and electro-mechanical assembly processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or SolidWorks for schematic design and layout review.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, multimeters and data acquisition systems.
- Understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical wiring standards (NEC), and industrial automation concepts.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and maintenance is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail for debugging complex electrical circuits.
- Effective communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating across engineering teams.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced manufacturing settings while adhering to safety protocols.
