Your role and responsibilities:
- Job Summary – As a Shell Core Machine Operator you will operate the machine, perform adjustments, make repairs, and complete preventative maintenance as necessary.
- Operate shell core machine to produce cast sand housings and performs related duties to meet established Company standards of safety, quality, quantity and work procedures.
- Tend shell core machine(s); keeps pipe magazine full of pipes; clean sand from around mandrels, core boxes, blow holes and blow plate; tighten bolts holding molds, spray molds with silicone emulsion.
- Observe on constant basis the operation of the machine for proper ejection. Observe quality of moldings coming from machine by visual and physical inspections.
- Shovel excess sand and core gates from overflow box; secure assistance as required when lifting heavy items. Adds silicone to spray container as required.
- Break core gates as needed and pack sand cast housings in appropriate bins; load bins to pallets and mark palletized material with proper labels/identification.
- Perform general maintenance as necessary. Change molds as needed.
- Clean molds and machine with dry ice blasting machine as needed.
- Load sand into surge hopper as needed.
- Perform quality inspections using go/no go gauges, calipers.
What is required for this role:
- G.E.D. or equivalent.
- Experience with mechanized production; prior automated machine operation and repair experience.
- Working knowledge of PLC control panel.
- Processes and follows verbal directions and written instructions.
- Communicates clearly and effectively. Reads, writes, and understands English fluently.
- Possesses basic level computer skills.
- Performs basic level mathematics.
- Problem solves and thinks critically and creatively.
- Works closely with others as part of a team as well as independently. · Remains calm under stress.
- Maintains a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and adherence to the attendance policy.
- Uses measurement and weighing devices and has general understanding of units of measure, both English and metric. Must be able to convert from English units to metric units, and vice versa.
- Records hand written and electronic information.
- Operates a pallet jack. Fork truck experience preferred.
- Possesses ability to modify work schedule to meet company needs. Volunteers for overtime and additional assignments willingly.
- Completes a pre-placement physical exam and drug screen with favorable results.
