Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on gasoline trucks and diesel-powered construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and other heavy machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues using appropriate tools and technology.
- Conduct preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines and company standards to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance and repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and any other relevant details.
- Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safe operating conditions and compliance with company safety standards.
- Order and maintain an inventory of necessary parts and supplies to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to schedule repairs and prioritize work orders.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines when operating equipment or performing tasks in the shop or on job sites.
- Provide training or guidance to junior mechanics or apprentices, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience with a variety of heavy machinery and construction vehicles.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics or a related field is recommended.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy parts and tools (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and under machinery.
