The Opportunity
Reporting to the Meat Department Manager and supervised by the Meat Department Manager and/or Department Head, and their delegate. The position needs to stock meat products onto the display cases in the sales area, follow FIFO concept, provide good service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness.
You Will:
- Process various meat products by trimming, cutting, chopping, utilizing meat cutting equipment and tools
- Store meat products properly and in a timely manner after cutting to prolong shelf life, implement FIFO concept
- Maintain inventory and ensure full display of various meat products
- Prepare various meat products for sales activities, include but not limited to cut, debone, slice, pack and label various meat products and display them in the display coolers
- Maintain workplace cleanliness, wash and ensure relevant work tools are clean and well-kept
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a welcoming smile, greeting and assisting customers enthusiastically, friendly, and courteously.
- Assist customers in product selection and offer recommendations as required to enhance their shopping experience.
- Provide guidance and related meat cutting knowledge to junior team members
- Familiar oneself with the location of various meat items and stay informed about departmental promotions to better assist customers.
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.
You Should Have/Be:
- Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
- Able to operate meat cutters and other tools safely
- Able to stand for extended periods to handle products, regularly moving and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Able to work in low temperature environment (0-4 ℃) and in freezing environment (-18 ℃) and wet environment for extended periods
- Not allergic to handle meat products
- Able to communicate in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety protocols.
- Relevant experience in handling meat products is preferred
- Pass internal meat cutter tests such as: meat cutting skills, written professional meat assessments, etc
- Demonstrated commitment, accountability, and reliability in previous roles.
- A good team player, capable of collaborating with and assisting colleagues.
- Positive, proactive, and self-motivated work ethic.
