The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking a candidate who has experience working with adults with serious mental health and substance abuse disorders for the Adult Mobile Crisis program in the Behavioral Health Division. The ideal candidate will have experience providing crisis intervention, pre-admission screening evaluations, initial diagnostic interviews and treatment planning, remaining in compliance with state standards.
Duties:
Provide crisis assessment and intervention services that utilize the least restrictive means possible to meet the client needs and assure safety of client and the community.
Partner with law enforcement personnel, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), and Mobile Co-Responder Team (MCRT) as first step in Sequential Intercept to prevent incarceration of people with serious mental illnesses.
Complete clinical documentation and assure all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information are done accurately and within the time frame required.
Complete complex assessments, treatment planning, crisis planning, clinical intervention, consultation, supportive counseling, and transition planning.
Provide crisis intervention, including mobile crisis response, to non-hospitalized individuals experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis to avert hospitalization or re-hospitalization, by mobilizing resources of the community and natural support systems for ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation.
Provide individual or family counseling, and other short term therapeutic crisis interventions to best meet client needs to assist in resolving their crisis.
Initiate resource development in accordance with client needs to expand community services to clients; and provide case consultation, assessment, intervention, and follow-up to support external systems of care.
Supervise other clinical professionals, student interns, and volunteers to expand services to clients.
Adhere to Agency/ DMAS/ Licensure documentation standards as documented by QA reviews.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:00pm.-10:30pm, with the ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays.
A $4,000 hiring bonus is being offered for this position. Hiring bonuses shall only be for new hires of original employment or reemployment as defined in Human Resources Policy No. 5.0.

$1,000 will be awarded in the first paycheck.

$1,250 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.

$1,750 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
