We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our Rhode Island State Pre-K program in Providence, RI. The Teacher Assistant will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children, helping to foster their early development and readiness for school.
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Engage with children to encourage positive behavior and learning.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, families, and staff.
- Participate in professional development and training as required.
- Documentation of a high school diploma OR general equivalency (GED).
- At the time of employment, documentation of one of the following OR an individual professional development plan (not to exceed 2 years from the date of employment) to achieve one of the following:
- Successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- A minimum of 12 credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program setting.
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential PLUS nine credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, children, and families.
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
- Basic knowledge of early childhood development principles.
- Dependability and professionalism.
