Patriot Village is looking for a compassionate, energetic Activity Assistant to join our team! If you enjoy making a positive impact, building relationships, and creating fun, engaging experiences for seniors, we'd love to meet you.
As an Activity Assistant, you'll help plan and lead recreational programs that promote residents' physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being while creating meaningful moments every day.
Schedule
- Full-Time (40 hours per week)
- Must be available to work 2 Saturdays per month
- Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required

Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate scheduled group activities and recreational programs.
- Provide one-on-one activities tailored to each resident's interests and abilities.
- Encourage resident participation and engagement.
- Assist with transporting residents safely to and from activities.
- Prepare activity rooms, supplies, decorations, and equipment.
- Help coordinate crafts, games, movies, parties, holiday events, and special programs.
- Document resident attendance, participation, and responses to activities.
- Assist with activity care planning and resident assessments.
- Deliver mail, flowers, and other personal items to residents as needed.
- Promote residents' physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being through meaningful activities.
- Ensure resident safety during transportation and activities.
- Communicate professionally with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
- Report resident concerns, complaints, or changes to appropriate staff.
- Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with answering call lights and notifying appropriate staff when needed.
- Support other departments as assigned and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Follow all facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience working with seniors, long-term care, dementia, or recreational activities is preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead group activities and engage residents of varying abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, enthusiastic, and dependable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, push, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to safely transport residents and move activity equipment.
- Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
