E & E Painting Inc. is hiring an experienced drywall professional who also has painting experience.
This is a drywall-finishing position first and a painting position second. We are looking for someone who is already highly proficient in drywall installation, taping, finishing, repairs, and full Level 5 skim coating.
This is not an entry-level or training position. Applicants must be able to independently produce professional Level 5 finishes.
Schedule
This position primarily involves night work.
Applicants must be available to work evening and overnight shifts. Start and completion times will vary depending on the project and customer requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform full Level 5 drywall finishing on walls and ceilings.
- Apply a consistent skim coat across entire surfaces.
- Deliver smooth surfaces without visible joints, fasteners, ridges, sanding scratches, or tool marks.
- Inspect finished work under critical lighting before primer and paint are applied.
- Hang, cut, fit, fasten, repair, and replace drywall.
- Tape and finish drywall joints, inside corners, outside corners, fasteners, patches, and accessories.
- Install and finish corner bead and drywall trim.
- Mix and apply setting-type and drying-type joint compounds correctly.
- Feather joints and repairs so they blend smoothly into surrounding surfaces.
- Repair cracks, holes, water-damaged areas, settlement damage, and previously completed poor-quality drywall work.
- Match existing smooth-wall and textured finishes when required.
- Sand and prepare surfaces while maintaining proper dust control.
- Read plans, specifications, measurements, and job instructions.
- Calculate material quantities and communicate material needs to the supervisor.
- Protect floors, fixtures, equipment, merchandise, and occupied work areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite throughout the night.
- Complete work within assigned production schedules without sacrificing quality.
Painting Responsibilities
When drywall work is completed, this employee may also assist with:
- Masking and protecting surrounding surfaces.
- Patching, sanding, caulking, and surface preparation.
- Applying drywall primer and finish paint.
- Brush, roller, and airless-spray applications.
- Cutting clean lines and producing uniform finishes.
- Painting walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and other surfaces as assigned.
- Identifying drywall defects before final paint is applied.
Required Qualifications
- At least five years of professional drywall installation or finishing experience is preferred.
- Proven ability to independently complete professional Level 5 skim-coat finishes.
- Strong knowledge of drywall finishing Levels 1 through 5.
- Experience hanging, taping, mudding, sanding, repairing, and finishing drywall.
- Professional painting experience.
- Ability to use drywall knives, skimming blades, trowels, sanding equipment, mixers, automatic taping tools, and other drywall equipment.
- Ability to recognize and correct flashing, joint photographing, ridges, bubbles, pockmarks, tool marks, sanding scratches, and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to work efficiently without repeatedly overworking the compound.
- Ability to read measurements, plans, specifications, and written work instructions.
- Ability to calculate basic material quantities.
- Reliable attendance and consistent availability for night work.
- Reliable transportation to jobsites throughout Southern California.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and other crew members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in completed work.
- Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, stilts, lifts, and power tools.
- Ability to lift and carry drywall, tools, equipment, and materials weighing approximately 50 pounds or more.
Preferred Experience
- Commercial painting or drywall experience.
- Experience working in occupied retail, restaurant, hospitality, or commercial properties.
- Previous night-shift construction experience.
- Experience with airless paint sprayers.
- Experience matching orange-peel, knockdown, and smooth-wall finishes.
- Experience with metal-stud framing and commercial drywall systems.
- Experience completing drywall work under critical lighting conditions.
Skills Assessment
Final candidates will be required to complete a paid hands-on skills assessment.
The assessment may include:
- Completing a drywall repair.
- Taping and finishing joints and corners.
- Applying a Level 5 skim coat.
- Sanding and preparing the surface for paint.
- Demonstrating proper masking, priming, or painting techniques.
Continued employment will depend on the candidate’s ability to produce work that meets E & E Painting Inc.’s quality and production standards.
Pay: $25.95 - $32.00 per hour
