Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to join our educational community. In this role, you will specifically provide support to Middle School (6th-8th grade) students in their General Education Math classroom. You will provide vital support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster a positive classroom environment where every child can thrive. You will assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), support classroom management, and engage students through tailored instructional activities. Duties
- Support classroom teachers by assisting with implementing instructional strategies within the math classroom.
- Work directly with students to promote active participation, social skills, and independence through engaging activities aligned with their IEP goals.
- Use effective behavior management techniques to maintain a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and specialists about student progress and behavior concerns using clear and compassionate communication skills.
- Help monitor student progress through assessments and documentation to ensure IEP objectives are being met effectively.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with children in middle school or similarly-aged settings is highly preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or other special needs is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of classroom management strategies, academic support strategies, and adolescent development enhances your ability to support diverse learners.
- Familiarity with math instruction and math strategies is advantageous.
