Job Title: Sr. Geologist / Hydrogeologist Work Location: Edison, New Jersey
Job Description:
This is a senior yet “hands on” Geologist/Hydrogeologist position for a high profile EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) program. The candidate will participate in field hydrogeologic and geological investigations at hazardous waste sites throughout the US and will evaluate, select and implement standard and innovative techniques and procedures for geological and hydrogeological analyses. The hydrogeologist will provide oversight of groundwater monitor and bedrock well installation and direct push sampling/coring, perform aquifer tests and perform multi-media sampling (groundwater, surface water, soil/sediment and soil gas). This individual will perform remedial design work related to geological/hydrogeological conditions to remediate the contaminants of concern on the sites in question.
The candidate will serve as a task leader for field activities and will be required to prepare work plans, cost estimates and reports. The candidate will participate in and/or supervise the development of groundwater flow and transport models. The candidate will need to effectively interact with a wide variety of EPA, federal, state, local agency and Lockheed Martin/REAC contract personnel in a professional manner under stressful field conditions. The candidate will need to be able to travel and may periodically spend extended periods of time in the field. The candidate may be part of an emergency response team and have to deal with a variety of hazardous materials using elevated levels of PPE. Successful completion of 40-hour OSHA hazardous waste site worker training is required as well as the ability to periodically perform heavy lifting and work extended evening and weekend hours in unpleasant field conditions.
The candidate will provide support for geologists/hydrogeologists with less experience and will mentor those who can benefit from his/her greater experience and training.
