Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Genesee Junior/Senior High School as a High School Behavior Interventionist. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and families to implement effective behavior intervention strategies that promote positive behavior and academic success. This full-time position requires a proactive approach to support students with diverse needs, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans for students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to create a positive school culture and address behavioral concerns.
- Conduct assessments to identify behavioral issues and monitor student progress.
- Provide direct support and coaching to students in managing their behaviors and developing social-emotional skills.
- Facilitate group sessions and workshops focused on conflict resolution, anger management, and social skills development.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student behavior, progress, and strategies for support at home.
- Maintain accurate records of student behavior interventions and progress reports.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and collaborate on support strategies.
- Stay informed about best practices in behavior intervention and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Advocate for students and promote their well-being within the school community.
Requirements
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational or counseling setting.
- Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting student success.
- Familiarity with special education laws and regulations is a plus.
- Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar training is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed for school-related activities.
