We are seeking a Senior Communication System Technician who has mechanical, electrical, and maintenance experience. The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of antennas, radios, communications, radio frequency (RF), and cable runs for shipboard use. This position requires travel to various shipyard and U.S. Navy base locations to assist with the installation of government-owned hardware and software as well as provide shipboard installation support for antenna aboard ship. Responsibilities will include supporting the development, review, and updates to production and test procedures, supporting test readiness reviews of drawings and technical data packages, and helping develop ship change documents (SCD). The ideal candidate is not only extremely mechanically capable but is articulate and able to develop relationships with points of contact at various shipyards and navy bases to facilitate coordination efforts. This position requires a Department of Defense/Department of War (DoD/DoW) Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Highlights of Responsibilities:
- Independently review and interpret drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
- Participate in the installation of government hardware and software aboard U.S. Navy vessels.
- Run cables and ensure they are properly sealed/protected from harsh environments.
- Help develop procedures and processes to efficiently perform assigned functions.
- Possess and apply knowledge of engineering methods, practices, and processes.
- Perform electrical/electronic integrity inspections, systematic fault isolation, and troubleshoot and repair equipment, cabling, connectors, and electronics within prescribed standards.
Required Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- Eight or more years of experience with the set-up, installation, operation, capability upgrades, input for operation manuals, and component-level repairs for a variety of U.S. Navy systems.
- Experience with equipment installation and removal processes and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience in U.S. Navy shipboard system design and systems installation.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficient with the Microsoft suite of tools (Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Skillful at building and terminating cables.
- An active Department of Defense (DoD) Security clearance preferred.
Travel:
- Travel is required for this position and will include time aboard U.S. Navy ships.
Tools and Technology:
- Hand tools, soldering tools, multimeters, calibrators, etc.
- Naval Systems Engineering Resource Center (NSERC) sites
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat

Working Conditions/Environment:
- Some tasks may include reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, squatting, kneeling, stopping, crawling, and walking.
- Tasking will include work outdoors, aboard ships, and in varying climates.
