Experienced Optician
We're looking for an optician who sets the standard — for the patients we serve and the team around them.
This isn't an entry-level dispensary role. You'll own the patient experience end to end: needs assessments, frame selection, measurements, and fit — getting it right the first time, every time. You'll personally manage complex, high-risk, and difficult dispenses, and bring the kind of steady, hands-on presence on the floor that the rest of the team naturally follows.
What you'll do:
- Greet and prioritize every patient like their time is the most valuable thing in the room
- Handle the toughest fits and dispense personally — no passing them off
- Mentor and train newer opticians, pairing with them on live patients until they can work independently — share what you know, hands-on, not just in theory
- Demonstrate proper technique (PD/segment height measurement, lens verification, frame adjustment), so your knowledge becomes the standard others copy
- Handle billing, insurance verification, and paperwork accurately and efficiently, without letting it slow down the patient in front of you
- Spot and eliminate waste — remakes, redundant steps, wasted time — before it costs the practice or the patient
- Help build a floor culture that's disciplined, calm under pressure, and genuinely enjoyable to work on
What we need from you:
This role requires proven, hands-on optical experience, including billing and insurance processing — and a real willingness to pass that knowledge on. You should already be comfortable with measurements, fittings, insurance/billing workflows, and patient-facing judgment calls under real pressure — we're not training from scratch. Still, you'll be doing plenty of training yourself.
We're also looking for professional maturity — by that we mean: staying calm and steady with a difficult patient instead of getting rattled, owning a mistake and fixing it instead of hiding it, showing up on time and prepared without being reminded, and holding yourself to the same standard you'd expect from anyone else on the team, no exceptions.
If you don't have optical experience, please don't apply — we need someone who can step in, share what they know, and set the tone from day one.
