Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting orthodontists during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental practices, particularly in orthodontics, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This position is part of a travel team between Huntersville and Mooresville.
Duties
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and treatments, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, including sterilizing instruments and managing infection control protocols as needed.
- Perform four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Take and record xrays and images as needed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and orthodontic treatments.
- Manage patient records Cloud 9 software, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and appointments.
- Collaborate with front desk to schedule appointments and manage patient flow when needed.
- Support pediatric patients by creating a welcoming environment and addressing their concerns.
- Maintain knowledge of dental anatomy to assist in educating patients effectively.
- Collaborating with Clinical Lead to ensure a smooth patient flow.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar role is required.
- Familiarity with four-handed dentistry techniques is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of infection control standards within a dental clinic setting.
- Experience with Cloud 9 or similar electronic health record systems is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy and pediatric dentistry principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively with patients of all ages.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and positive demeanor.
- Certification in dental assisting is required.
- Dental radiology certification is required.
