Position: Laundry Specialist - DoCo Vacations
Overview
The Laundry Specialist supports the Laundry Manager in all aspects of DoCo Vacations’ in-house laundry operations, ensuring that every property is turned over with fresh, properly prepared linens. This is a hands-on role that combines work in our laundry facility — inspecting, treating, laundering, folding, and staging linens — with on-property support during changeover days, including making beds, collecting soiled linens, and restocking supplies alongside our cleaning crews. The Laundry Specialist reports to the Laundry Manager and works closely with the cleaning teams to keep changeovers running on schedule.
Responsibilities:
1. Laundry Production
- Inspect incoming linens for stains, tears, and wear; remove damaged or worn items from rotation and report them to the Laundry Manager.
- Pre-treat stains using approved products and methods prior to laundering.
- Operate commercial washers and dryers according to established cycles, load sizes, and chemical settings.
- Fold and finish linens to DoCo Vacations quality standards.
- Stage and organize completed linen sets by property so they are ready for delivery.
2. On-Property Linen & Changeover Support
- Travel to properties on changeover days to deliver clean linens and collect soiled linens for return to the laundry facility.
- Make beds to DoCo Vacations standards, ensuring a consistent, polished presentation for arriving guests.
- Stock properties with guest supplies, paper products, and other consumables as directed.
- Coordinate on site with cleaning crews to keep changeovers moving efficiently and on schedule.
- Report property damage, missing items, or maintenance issues observed during visits to the Laundry Manager.
3. Inventory & Supply Support
- Track linen counts moving in and out of the facility and alert the Laundry Manager to shortages or discrepancies.
- Monitor levels of laundry chemicals, guest supplies, and consumables, and communicate reorder needs to the Laundry Manager.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laundry facility, including routine equipment care and lint removal.
- Follow all safety protocols for the handling and storage of laundry chemicals.
4. Team Collaboration
- Work under the direction of the Laundry Manager and support daily priorities as assigned.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with cleaning teams regarding linen needs and changeover timing.
- Provide coverage for core laundry operations when the Laundry Manager is unavailable.
Schedule:
- Peak season (May – October): Thursday through Monday, with hours concentrated around changeover days.
- Off-season (November – April): reduced hours, scheduled with the Laundry Manager based on booking volume.
- Weekend and holiday availability is required, as these are our highest-volume changeover days.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in laundry, housekeeping, or hospitality preferred, but not required — we will train the right person.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in consistent, high-quality work.
- Ability to lift and move heavy loads of linens and supplies, stand for extended periods, and bend or kneel while making beds.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between properties.
- Willingness to follow safe chemical handling procedures and established laundry protocols.
- Dependability and consistent availability throughout the peak season.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cleaning teams.
