Position Summary
Biovivo Science is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Process and Equipment Engineer to support the operation, reliability, optimization, and continuous improvement of equipment used in our natural botanical extraction and food manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for ensuring that production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
The Process and Equipment Engineer will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, R&D, and Facilities teams to improve equipment performance, troubleshoot technical issues, lead capital improvement projects, and support the scaling of extraction and manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production and processing equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
- Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Process Equipment Optimization
- Evaluate and optimize equipment used in botanical extraction, filtration, separation, concentration, drying, blending, and packaging operations.
- Analyze production data and equipment metrics to improve throughput and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Operations and R&D teams to support process improvements and new product development.
Capital Projects & Equipment Installation
- Assist in equipment selection, procurement, installation, qualification, and commissioning activities.
- Assist in equipment upgrade projects from concept through implementation.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Develop project timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain equipment documentation, including SOPs, maintenance records, engineering drawings, and validation documents.
- Ensure equipment complies with applicable OSHA, GMP, food safety, environmental, and company requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through equipment modifications and process improvements.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on operational excellence initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
Experience
- 3–7 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, processing, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, botanical extraction, chemical processing, or related industries.
- Experience supporting production equipment and industrial processing systems.
- Experience managing capital equipment projects preferred.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of pumps, heat exchangers, extraction systems, filtration systems, tanks, piping systems, automation controls, and process equipment.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance and reliability engineering principles.
- Familiarity with GMP, food manufacturing, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or regulated production environments.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
- Experience with CMMS systems and equipment performance monitoring tools preferred.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
