Assembly Technician – St. Louis, Mo
R&S Machining, a division of Threadlock Precision, is a growing aerospace and defense manufacturer specializing in precision-machined and assembled components for mission-critical applications. We are looking for a detail-oriented Assembly Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to be part of a team producing high performing aerospace and defense products.
Position Summary
The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling precision aerospace and defense components, structures, and mechanical systems in accordance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company quality standards. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, mission-critical products while supporting a culture of safety, precision, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment with a strong commitment to quality and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble aerospace components, structures, and mechanical systems using hand and power tools
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Perform precision drilling, riveting, bonding, helicoil installation, and torque applications
- Utilize hand tools, torque tools, and precision measurement equipment accurately and safely
- Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify assemblies meet engineering and quality requirements
- Identify and report nonconforming materials, components, or assembly issues
- Document assembly activities and production records in compliance with AS9100 requirements
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and 5S standards within the assembly area
- Support continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives
- Follow all company safety procedures and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve assembly or fit-up issues
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical assembly experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments
- Basic understanding of mechanical assembly processes and hardware installation
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense assembly experience preferred
- Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with AS9100 or regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience with torque verification and assembly documentation
- Knowledge of precision inspection tools and measurement techniques

Position Details

- Reports To: Assembly Manager
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, opportunities for overtime
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- Pay Range: $25 per hour - $35 per hour
