Duties
- Operate CNC lathe machines, including Fanuc-controlled equipment, to produce complex parts according to detailed blueprints and specifications
- Set up machines by installing tooling, calibrating equipment, and verifying machine parameters using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols, and technical drawings to ensure accurate production
- Program CNC lathes using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and perform routine adjustments for optimal performance
- Conduct quality checks throughout the machining process utilizing precision tools like dial indicators and micrometers to maintain tight tolerances
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues related to tooling, electrical discharge machining (EDM), or mechanical failures
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying opportunities for process improvements and waste reduction
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming and operation of CNC lathe machines with Fanuc controls or similar systems
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawings
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), CAD (Computer-Aided Design), SolidWorks, and CAM programming software
- Knowledge of tooling selection, setup procedures, and the use of hand tools for machining tasks
- Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines for quality assurance
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and welding techniques
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings
- Familiarity with safety protocols involving power tools, forklift operation, and the use of precision measuring instruments
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality components within tight specifications
