Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will oversee financial operations related to construction projects, ensuring accurate accounting practices, cost management, and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain project-specific financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, and account reconciliation using ERP systems such as SAP or Sage.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and cost accounting to monitor project expenses against budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports and statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), ensuring clarity and accuracy for internal stakeholders.
- Perform cash flow analysis and forecasting to support project planning and resource allocation.
- Oversee payroll processing related to construction staff, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accurate recording of debits & credits.
- Ensure SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance by implementing internal controls over financial reporting processes.
- Collaborate with project managers to collect data, interpret financial reports, and support decision-making through business intelligence tools and Excel data analysis.
Requirements
- Proven accounting experience within the manufacturing or construction industry, with a strong understanding of financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, budgeting, and cost management.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken; experience with ERP systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, data collection, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and general ledger accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting principles relevant to corporate accounting practices.
- Excellent data analysis skills utilizing spreadsheets and business intelligence tools to interpret complex financial information.
- Experience with SOX compliance procedures and public accounting practices is a plus.
- Effective communication skills for preparing detailed financial reports and collaborating across teams.
