Parkview is looking to add 3 interns to our team! Our interns typically work 2 evening shifts per week while school is in session, with the option to work additional shifts as they are available!
The Pharmacy Intern supports pharmacists in ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication dispensing within a closed-door pharmacy setting. This position is intended for pharmacy students currently enrolled in an accredited PharmD program. Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the intern assists with order processing, medication preparation, clinical reviews, compliance tasks, and operational workflows in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.
Assist with the maintenance of workflow, to maintain order and ensure an efficient and compliant pharmacy operation.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations outlined by the Board of Pharmacy, accreditation standards, and company policy.
Stay current on pharmacological knowledge by studying existing and new legislation and keeping up to date with current continuing education.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Assist health care providers and home agencies by answering questions and/or requests and taking verbal orders.
Maintain effective communications with facilities to facilitate the fulfilment of patient care, foster enduring business relationships, and build customer loyalty.
Perform job assignments in full compliance and complete understanding of URAC, state and federal laws and internal policies and procedures governing the handling, dispensing and distribution of medications dispensed by Parkview Health Services.
Maintain a safe a clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations outlined by the Board of Pharmacy, accreditation standards, and company policy.
Read medication orders, decipher the prescription, input into the pharmacy system, and properly bill claims.
Perform drug interaction checks on all prescriptions and contact the health care provider with any questions or concerns.
Maintain records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.
Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication use and disposal.
Perform non-sterile medication compounding pursuant to regulations set by USP <795>.
Ability to work in a team environment to ensure the best possible patient care.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
