Vision and Medical Billing & Patient Services Specialist
About Us
We're an independent boutique optometry practice in Irvine and Costa Mesa, and we're looking for someone to oversee billing and insurance for both practices — maintaining doctor credentials and coordinating both medical and vision billing. You'll be comfortable speaking with patients about copays and billing questions and working closely with staff to keep things running smoothly.
What You'll Do
Billing & Insurance
- Process and submit medical and vision care claims; manage rejections and rebilling including VSP, EyeMed Medicare and other PPO's
- Handle EMEC and Coordination of Benefits (COB) billing
- Assist with collections and answer patient billing questions with professionalism and empathy
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate insurance and doctor credentialing records across both practices
- Conduct patient follow-up related to billing, statements, and outstanding balances
- Support other general administrative duties as needed across both practices
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in optometry or ophthalmology medical billing preferred
- Working knowledge of VSP, EyeMed, and medical (EMEC/COB) billing processes
- Comfortable multitasking across billing and patient service
- Strong communication skills — you'll be talking with patients, insurance reps, and doctors
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and good communication skills
Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
