Position Summary:
Our mission is to empower campers and staff to form relationships, develop lifelong skills, and build confidence. There are four Division Director positions at Fessenden. Each Division Director is part of the senior camp leadership team and is responsible for the staff and campers in their own division ( 7-9 groups of 12-18 campers and 3 staff per group.) The Division Director is a seasoned supervisor and educator who provides leadership and mentoring to the division staff, and develops a relationship with the staff, campers, and camper families to ensure a safe, fun, and enriching experience in all aspects of camp. Division Director is the direct supervisor of the counselor staff in their Division. The position is for the full eight-week season (June 22 – August 14) including events and staff training before and during the camp season. Additional working weeks can be contracted in June and August. This is a seasonal position. The wage range for this position is $24.00 – $30.00 per hour.
Qualifications and Skills:

Experience as an administrator in a camp or supervisory position working with children.

Desire and ability to supervise, lead, and positively manage staff and campers in a cooperative, team-oriented camp atmosphere.

Strong communication skills.

Possess excellent character, integrity, adaptability, patience, self-control, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Pass a MA State run background check including a CORI and SORI.
Responsibilities:
Division Program
-
Direct, train, and coach staff in their camp division.

Serve on the senior camp leadership team including developing training for all staff and leading Camp staff training before and during camp season.

Assure appropriate staffing of groups and Camp activities.

Design and lead Camp initiatives and events working with the senior leadership team.

Develop and implement strategies to help campers and counselors be successful at camp.

Meet weekly with division staff for planning and goal setting.

Conduct formal evaluations of staff in assigned division mid-season and the end of the season.

Regularly conduct informal evaluations of staff in assigned division.

Regularly observe, communicate, and work with groups and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.

Proactively communicate with parents about successes and concerns regarding their child.

Coordinate with Program Director to plan and implement program activities for your division each week.

Coordinate with CIT director to schedule and teach CITs to assist with groups and teach counselors how to appropriately work with and educate assigned CITs.

Send out weekly division communication to families.
Job Requirements:

Available 8:30am-4:15pm, Monday – Friday for the entire camp season.

Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

Some high level activity which may include running, dancing, swimming and jumping.

Occasional lifting, bending, and climbing stairs.

Frequent talking, listening, walking, sitting, and standing.

Must possess the visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to camp activity.
