Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team, bringing a strong customer-service mindset and collaborative approach. This hands-on role will be responsible for various IHI reporting units, including Shared Services, Aviation, Benefits, Youth Sports, and Nonprofit operations. The accountant will support day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting of daily transactions, completing month-end close activities, and maintaining organized accounting records. This role also collaborates cross-functionally across business units, supports the accounting clerk, and contributes to special projects. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a solid foundation in accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely execution, including monitoring and reviewing aging reports.
Responsible for timely month-end closing process; reconcile all bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, prepare and post accurate journal entries, ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified.
Analyze financial results and identify variances or discrepancies
Prepare financial statements for month-end reporting packages. As well as aid with the budget to actual variance analysis to prepare commentary on financial statements.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address accounting related inquiries and provide support for decision-making needs.
Manage insurance reimbursement requests and tracking captive activity.
Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation for reference and compliance purposes.
Identify and implement process improvements with innovation, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness organizationally.
Work with the Accounting team to provide a clean and timely year-end reporting package to the tax department.
Collaborate with department heads for the creation of annual budgets as well as continuous projections as needed.
Work in partnership with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit requests.
Assist with various financial special projects as needed
Ensure compliance with relevant complex accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Minimum five (5) years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility
Strong accounting skills and an in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application to business.
Evidence of highly developed verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of colleagues.
A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Detail oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in financial reporting.
Strong Computer skills with the ability to effectively navigate and utilize computer programs and applications essential to job duties. Experience with Oracle a plus.
The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest ethical standards and integrity.
