Job Summary:
The Truss Plant Worker is responsible for assisting with the fabrication, assembly, and production of wood roof trusses in a manufacturing facility. This role involves working with hand and power tools, reading and interpreting truss blueprints, and maintaining a safe, efficient production line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret truss design blueprints and specifications to build components accurately
- Position lumber and connector plates according to jig setups on the truss table
- Operate roller presses, hydraulic presses, or other equipment to set metal connector plates into trusses
- Cut, measure, and assemble wood components using saws and other hand/power tools
- Stack, band, and move completed trusses using forklifts, cranes, or manual material handling
- Inspect finished trusses for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection)
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist with loading trusses onto delivery trucks as needed
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to lift50+ lbs. repeatedlyand stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a warehouse/production environment (exposure to noise, dust, varying temperatures)
- Basic math and measurement skills (reading a tape measure)
- Ability to follow blueprints/build specs
- Prior experience in truss manufacturing, construction, carpentry, or warehouse production is a plus, but not always required
- Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a team
Schedule:
- 2nd shift (swing shift) - M-F, 3:30 pm to 1:00 am with a 30-minute lunch (45 hours per week)
Physical Demands:
- Frequent bending, lifting, standing, and repetitive motion
- Work is performed in a warehouse/manufacturing environment
Pay: $18.00 per hour
