About the Role
The Streets Maintenance Technician I performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of Town streets and related infrastructure within the Public Services Department. Work includes tasks such as concrete and asphalt work, drainage maintenance, landscaping, flagging traffic, assisting with minor equipment repairs, and supporting Town-sponsored special events.
Employees in this class work both independently and as part of a crew, often in outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions. Responsibilities include assisting with the setup and breakdown of special events by installing and removing barricades, barriers, traffic control devices, temporary signage, and other safety equipment. The position also supports crowd control and pedestrian safety efforts during festivals, parades, community events, and other public gatherings to help ensure the safe and orderly movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
This role supports the safe and effective upkeep of streets, sidewalks, and storm drainage systems and plays a key part in snow and ice control operations. Work requires following detailed instructions, using hand tools and light equipment, maintaining safety standards at all times, and supporting special event operations as assigned.
Schedule: This position is regularly scheduled to work Friday through Monday and supports weekend operations and special events as needed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
