Duties
- Operate excavators, loaders, dump trucks, water trucks, and other construction machinery safely and efficiently to perform excavation, grading, paving, and utility installation tasks
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety procedures
- Assist with construction utility work by locating underground utilities using specialized tools and techniques before excavation begins
- Support construction site activities by operating heavy equipment such as horizontal drilling rigs, tanker trucks, and Caterpillar machinery
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe working environment for all team members
- Collaborate with project managers and crew members to execute site plans accurately while adhering to construction grading specifications
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and safety inspections for compliance purposes
Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery including excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and water trucks
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance on construction equipment
- Familiarity with construction utility work such as utility locating and underground service detection
- Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications for excavation, grading, paving, and utility installation projects
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation
- Skilled in construction site experience with a focus on safety procedures and equipment maintenance protocols
- Competence in operating specialized machinery like horizontal drilling rigs and tankers for various project needs
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving preferred
- Ability to perform construction grading accurately using appropriate machinery tools
