As a Dietary Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing appetizing, nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. Working under the direction of the Director of Food Service, you will ensure meals are prepared in accordance with approved menus, recipes, therapeutic diet requirements, and all federal, state, and local regulations.

What You’ll Do
- Prepare meals in accordance with approved cycle menus, standardized recipes, and therapeutic diet guidelines
- Ensure all food is palatable, visually appealing, and served at proper temperatures
- Review menus, production sheets, and dietary extensions daily
- Portion food accurately and use proper utensils and serving equipment
- Record and monitor food and equipment temperatures in compliance with HACCP guidelines
- Prepare and distribute resident snacks as assigned
- Assist with inventory and maintaining appropriate food and supply levels
- Label, date, and store food properly
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment using “clean as you go” practices
- Complete daily, weekly, and special cleaning assignments
- Report broken equipment, safety hazards, accidents, and incidents immediately to the Food Service Director
- Follow all facility and department safety procedures, including knife safety and equipment operation
- Adhere to dress code requirements, including hair nets and name badges
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and protect resident rights
- Work cooperatively with dietary staff and other departments
- Assist with resident concerns and ensure food preferences are honored whenever possible
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous long-term care, healthcare, or institutional cooking experience preferred
- ServeSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and therapeutic diets
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service and resident-centered care
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting required
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, utensils, and food carts
