Talent Source is Hiring Outside Machinists – Shipyard Operations
Position Overview
Talent Source is seeking experienced Outside Machinists to support shipyard operations. This role is critical to the installation, maintenance, alignment, and repair of shipboard machinery and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on shipyard experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work safely in demanding marine environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, align, maintain, and repair shipboard machinery and mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, turbines, compressors, and propulsion-related equipment.
- Perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and ohmmeters.
- Read and interpret shipboard drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Conduct rigging, lifting, and positioning of heavy machinery in accordance with shipyard safety standards.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair components using welding, soldering, sheet metal work, and mechanical fabrication techniques as required.
- Support electrical troubleshooting and repairs related to mechanical systems while maintaining compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of machinery during overhauls, repairs, and ship availability periods.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Qualifications
- Previous shipyard experience as an Outside Machinist is required at least of 5 years.
- Strong mechanical background with experience in marine or industrial machinery systems.
- Ability to read and interpret shipboard schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with shipyard safety procedures, confined spaces, and industrial environments.
- Military experience or equivalent technical training is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced shipyard environment while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
