Job Description
Shriners Children's Ohio has an opportunity for a PRN Child Life Specialist. Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives. Our top healthcare professionals excel in their practices and provide compassionate, family-centered care to children who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides evaluation and therapeutic services, direct patient care and patient/family education, in an efficient manner. Services may include therapeutic play, preparation, procedural support, special events, and reintegration programming. The child life specialist utilizes these practices in an effort to facilitate adaptive coping techniques and promote normal growth and development of the patient and family.
Performs an individualized assessment to collect comprehensive and accurate data necessary to assess development, temperament, coping style, medical plan, cultural preferences and practices and available social supports in order to develop an individualized development plan.
Plans and implements an individualized treatment plan that identifies goals and evidence based treatment intervention strategies
Participates in interdisciplinary patient care planning
Utilizes the EMR to document relevant patient and family information
Plans, implements or assists with camps/workshops/special events.
Functions as a team member and develops leadership through activities such as mentoring and providing education to students and other professionals.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field
Certified Child Life Specialist, or be eligible to sit for the certification exam and obtain within 6 months of employment
CPR/BLS per facility policy
Valid Drivers License per facility policy
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field
One year’s experience in a hospital child life program
The pay range for this position is $21.96 - $32.94. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
