Recruiting/Onboarding Specialist
Summary:
Peerstar is a community-based behavioral health organization dedicated to promoting recovery, empowerment, and wellness for individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges.
We are seeking a motivated and organized Recruiting/Onboarding Specialist to support hiring efforts as well as manage the pre-employment and onboarding process for new hires across multiple programs. This role is responsible for full-cycle recruiting activities including sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews, and supporting the onboarding process. In addition, this position plays an important role in helping Peerstar attract talented individuals who are passionate about supporting recovery and community-based services.

Responsibilities:
Manage full-cycle recruitment for positions including peer support specialists and program staff.
Post and manage job advertisements across multiple recruiting platforms.
Screen resumes, conduct candidate outreach, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
Maintain accurate candidate records within the applicant tracking system.
Coordinate all pre-employment onboarding activities.
Ensure completion of background checks, clearances, and required credentials.
Maintain accurate records in HRIS and onboarding systems.
Support onboarding coordination to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and timelines.
Assist with recruitment events, job fairs, and community outreach.
Manage I-9 verification and employment documentation compliance.
Schedule orientation and required training.
Track onboarding progress and proactively follow up on outstanding items.
Qualifications:
2+ years of onboarding, HR, recruiting coordination, talent acquisition, or healthcare administration experience.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple positions and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of employment documentation and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or human services preferred.
Experience with applicant tracking systems and recruiting platforms preferred.
