Troy’s Tropics is looking for an experienced and dependable Irrigation Service Technician to join our growing team. We are a family-owned, full-service landscape company serving the Sarasota area for nearly 40 years.
This position is ideal for someone who can confidently diagnose irrigation problems, complete repairs efficiently, communicate professionally with customers, and take ownership of their daily service schedule.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair residential and commercial irrigation systems
- Troubleshoot valves, controllers, wiring, pumps, sprinkler heads, rotors, drip systems, and mainline issues
- Locate leaks, broken pipes, damaged wiring, and malfunctioning components
- Adjust and program irrigation controllers
- Perform irrigation inspections and system evaluations
- Replace or repair valves, solenoids, heads, nozzles, fittings, and related components
- Identify coverage issues, water waste, and opportunities to improve system performance
- Clearly explain findings and recommended repairs to customers
- Document completed work, materials used, and additional recommendations
- Maintain an organized work area and properly care for company tools and equipment
- Coordinate with office staff, landscape crews, and other departments when needed
- Follow company safety procedures and provide professional customer service at every property
Qualifications
- Previous irrigation service or installation experience required
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of common irrigation controllers, valves, wiring, pumps, rotors, sprays, and drip irrigation
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily service schedule
- Professional appearance and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather
- Ability to lift materials, dig, kneel, bend, and perform physical work throughout the day
- Irrigation license or certifications are preferred but not required
- Experience with two-wire systems, pump systems, wells, and smart controllers is a plus
