We are seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to add to our dynamic team. Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) are integral in the overall functioning of the facility. In all instances, BHTs will interact with the patient in accordance with established treatment policies and procedures. BHTs may facilitate patient orientation, as necessary.
Responsibilities

Assist in luggage and body searches

Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings

Must be aware of patient locations, at all times, circulating around the facility on a regular basis and document hourly checks

Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment

Supervise and sometime facilitate patient activities as directed

Assure the patients are in their rooms at the designated time in the evening
-
Oversee med line to prevent diversion and to de-escalate situations as they arise

Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk

Assist the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation

Responsible for the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures

Demonstrates the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals

Demonstrated the ability to manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports

Attend staff training and programs as directed

Assist nurses as directed by supervisor

Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed

Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed

Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance

Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner

Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of chemical dependency recovery

Maintain records and have good communication skills
-
Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record

Must be able to walk within the facility and on the grounds of the facility for approximately one (1) mile per every eight (8) hour shift

Must be able to continuously sit for approximately three (3) hours per eight (8) hour shift

Must be able to administer CPR and be certified
-
Must be able to see and hear constantly
-
Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations

Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to one (1) hour
-
If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence
Preferred Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, CRC, or CRSS preferred
-
One year experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact preferred
