We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will provide individualized care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence while enhancing their quality of life. Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care while promoting each individual's independence, dignity, and personal choice.
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, and mobility assistance.
- Safely assist with transfers and positioning using Hoyer lifts and other adaptive equipment when required.
- Observe and monitor individuals' physical, emotional, and behavioral well-being, documenting changes and reporting concerns promptly.
- Assist with medication administration in accordance with physician orders, agency policies, and individual support plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals that meet dietary needs and encourage healthy eating habits.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment, including housekeeping, laundry, and infection control practices.
- Support participation in recreational activities, community outings, appointments, employment, and life skills development.
- Complete accurate documentation, including daily progress notes, medication records, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Foster positive relationships with individuals, families, healthcare providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a group home, assisted living facility, nursing home, home health, or other direct care setting is preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other special needs is highly desirable.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Knowledge of medication administration, HIPAA regulations, and person-centered care practices is preferred.
- Ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist individuals using proper body mechanics and adaptive equipment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, compassionate, and committed to providing high-quality care.
- Flexibility to work day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required depending on program needs.
