We are seeking a National Category Head to lead and manage the business strategy for the Garage Storage, Shelving, and Racking product categories. This role is responsible for driving overall business growth and profitability across major online retailers (e.g., Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Wayfair), online dealers, and specialty channels. As the Category Head, you will own the category strategy—from product portfolio management and pricing to channel development and marketing collaboration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Management

Own category P&L, helping define goals and ensuring delivery of sales and profitability targets.

Monitor, track, and analyze category performance metrics; make data-driven decisions to improve category health.

Develop reporting and KPIs to measure and manage product performance across channels, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

Present performance results to management on a regular cadence, explaining significant deltas when necessary and creating proactive plans to course-correct.

Create a forward-looking planning outlook and advocate for the appropriate structure to ensure targets can be met.

Manage existing retailer product programs effectively to ensure continuity and nurture expansion of scope.
Category Business Strategy

Develop and execute strategies to grow market share, profitability, and brand presence across all online sales channels.

Lead category business planning, including P&L management, revenue forecasting, and pricing strategies.

Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive landscape to inform category insights and product development.

Identify new growth opportunities, products, and channel expansion initiatives to meet business objectives, including program expansion within existing retailers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Marketing, Demand Forecasting, Product Development, and Supply Chain to align strategies and ensure category goals are met.

Work closely with D2C support functions and Retail Strategy counterparts to align cross-channel tactical execution.

Collaborate with marketing teams to design effective category-level strategies, content, and campaigns tailored to each channel.
Vendor and Channel Management

Lead relationships with major online retail partners, ensuring effective communication and maximizing category performance.

Assist in negotiations with key vendor terms with online retailers to drive optimal assortment, pricing, and promotional initiatives.

Identify, evaluate and close incremental strategic business opportunities within the wholesale retailer channel to ensure category growth and expansion.
Product and Portfolio Management

Lead the category product portfolio strategy, including SKU rationalization, new product launches, and lifecycle management.

Work with Product Development to ensure that the category offering aligns with customer demand and market trends.

Implement effective pricing, promotional, and discounting strategies for optimal growth in each channel.
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.

6+ years of experience in category management, product management, or a similar role in a retail or vendor environment
-
Experience in eCommerce, including exposure to Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, Wayfair, Shopify and D2C channels in the North American market

Proven ability to manage and scale product categories across multiple sales channels, including dealer and specialty markets.

Strategic thinker with excellent business acumen and analytical skills.

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills, with experience in managing relationships with large retailers.

Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.

Proficiency in data analysis, using tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI or similar for reporting and forecasting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Post secondary degree in Business, Marketing, or related field. MBA a plus.

8+ years of experience in category management, product management, or a similar role in a retail or vendor environment

Experience in home improvement, storage & organization, or a relevant product category.

Experience working with both omni channel buyers and online merchants within the B2C space.

Knowledge of pricing, assortment, and product life cycle management strategies across different channels.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This role will be required to travel up to 25% within Canada and the US

This is an existing vacancy and the base salary for this role is $100,000 to $120,000 USD annually at the time of the posting.
