Essential Functions:
- Support 24/7 operations.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance of process and support areas of a treatment plant.
- Monitor, initiate, and direct adjustments to plant processes and equipment both manually and through process control systems.
- Take samples of wastewater and other process flows and performs basic wastewater laboratory analysis.
- Keep accurate records and makes reports.
- Clean plant process areas and equipment.
- Provide training for Treatment Plant Operator Trainees.
- Make repairs of plant equipment.
- Assist plants' trades employees.
- Unload chemicals to replenish chemical solution tanks.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform related work as required or as delegated by Senior Operators, Team Leaders, and Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and hold a Missouri Class "A" wastewater treatment operator's license.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of wastewater treatment plant processes, including plant piping, settling basins, secondary treatment, sludge thickening, incinerators, and digesters.
- Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, and related electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and analyze meters, charts, and log entries.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Working knowledge of safe work practices.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- Must have and maintain a Missouri class "A" wastewater treatment plant operator's license.
- Must possess a valid driver's license by the state in which the employee resides.
- Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety sensitive, and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
