St. Lucie Battery and Tire is seeking a General Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform routine vehicle maintenance and light repairs to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine automotive maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
- Inspect vehicles and use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical, electrical, and engine issues
- Repair or replace components such as brakes, batteries, and exhaust systems
- Conduct vehicle inspections and road tests
- Communicate vehicle issues and service recommendations to customers and team members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Operate lifts, jacks, and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines
- Follow proper lifting techniques and use required PPE at all times
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude or basic automotive knowledge
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Basic math skills for measurements and service calculations
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Zero to one year of automotive repair or related experience preferred
- Entry level candidates with hands on mechanical skills are encouraged to apply
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain TIA and ALI certifications through company training
Work Environment
- Automotive repair shop setting with exposure to noise, grease, exhaust, and chemicals
- Use of personal protective equipment required
- Regular attendance and adherence to uniform standards required
- Employees must provide and maintain basic tools
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Frequent bending, squatting, and working under vehicles
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Daily use of hand and power tools
- Ability to reach overhead and perform physical tasks throughout the day
