The employee in this technical support title assists with the implementation of the City’s sustainability and environmental compliance programs.
Employees of this class work independently under general supervision of an environmental specialist or other senior-level employee. This employee may oversee consultants working on sustainability or environmental compliance environmental projects. This employee may supervise temporary or intern positions. Related work is performed as required.
This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.
A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
I. Bachelor's degree in Sustainable/Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration or a closely related field PLUS two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in climate change, sustainability, environmental management, environmental planning or environmental engineering;

II. Associate's degree in Sustainable/Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration or a closely related field, PLUS three (3) years of experience as described in I.
