Duties
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with approved menus and dietary guidelines
- Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere strictly to food safety sanitizing procedures and hygiene standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, poaching pots, braising pans, and food production machinery
- Assist with menu planning by creating diverse, balanced meal options that meet dietary needs and preferences
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including sanitizing surfaces and proper storage of ingredients to prevent contamination
- Follow recipe adherence to ensure consistency in meal quality and portion control
- Support dietary department protocols by managing food safety management practices during high-volume production
Experience
- Previous dietary aide experience or food service experience in a childcare or healthcare setting is highly desirable
- Demonstrated skills in food preparation techniques such as grilling, braising, poaching, and other culinary methods
- Familiarity with food safety management procedures and sanitizing protocols in a fast-paced environment
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of menu planning tailored for children’s nutritional requirements and dietary restrictions
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food handling for high-volume production environments
- Background in restaurant or catering experience that emphasizes quality, speed, and attention to detail
