Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, including injections, IV infusions, suturing, and catheter care, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic to document patient information meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients across acute care, long-term care, hospice, and outpatient settings.
- Manage complex cases involving trauma medicine, infectious disease care, critical care (ICU), emergency medicine, or specialized areas such as cardiology or ophthalmology.
- Conduct patient education on medication administration, wound care (including ostomy management), nutrition, and chronic disease management.
- Support triage processes in urgent care or emergency room environments by prioritizing patient needs based on severity and acuity levels.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care (NICU), or behavioral health.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in advanced procedures such as pulmonary function testing, laboratory specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and sterile processing techniques.
- Experience managing complex cases involving trauma (Level I & II trauma centers), cardiac catheterization procedures, dialysis treatments, or respiratory support like ventilator management.
- Ability to perform critical skills including IV insertion/infusion therapy, tube feeding management, aseptic technique adherence, and basic life support (BLS).
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is a plus.
