Position Summary
The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, components, and services required to support Medix Specialty Vehicles' manufacturing operations. This position manages supplier relationships, maintains material availability, and partners with Production, Planning, Engineering, Inventory Control, and Quality to ensure production schedules are achieved while balancing cost, quality, delivery, and inventory objectives. The Buyer serves as a strategic business partner by managing supplier performance, mitigating material shortages, supporting engineering changes, and driving continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
Responsibilities
· Procure assigned materials, components, and services to support production schedules and customer commitments.
· Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders while ensuring pricing, lead times, quantities, and delivery commitments remain accurate.
· Monitor supplier performance and proactively expedite critical materials to prevent production disruptions.
· Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while supporting negotiations for pricing, quality, delivery, and service.
· Partner with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Quality, and Finance to ensure material availability.
· Analyzing inventory levels, usage trends, and supplier lead times to balance inventory investment and production needs.
· Support new product launches, engineering changes, and product transitions.
· Resolve supplier, receiving, invoice, and quality discrepancies in a timely manner.
· Maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP/MRP system.
· Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and streamline purchasing processes.
· Support departmental KPIs and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
· Minimum two years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing experience.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
· Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
· Manufacturing purchasing experience.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
· Experience evaluating supplier performance and supporting negotiations.
